A Great Loss

by on Dec.10, 2008, under News

Hello Friends, I wanted to share a quick note of sadness for us. When we lived in Albania, Seth had a wonderful youth leader named Genti. He was an upright man of God and wonderful servant for the kingdom of God. He was taken home to be with our creator suddenly last Saturday. We ask that you would join with us in praying for his family. Below is the letter from our Pastor in Tirana. Blessing, David Today we are thanking the Lord for a life well lived, yet mourning the loss of a beloved Brother.  Most of you are aware of the tragic death of our dear friend Genti Bekteshi last Saturday morning.  Genti's wife, Milena, was at the maternity hospital awaiting the birth of their second child when Genti had a heart attack at home.  Just a few hours later their son, Aron, was born.  They also have an eleven month old daughter, Dea.  Dear friends, we are deeply grateful for the outpouring of love and care we are experiencing from so many of you.  There were the more people than we have ever seen for a funeral at the burial service on Sunday.  In the midst of such sorrow, Jesus is constantly reminding us how much He is with us through you.  Thank you in joining us in our primary concern for Milena and the children as we pray for them in their sorrow and future needs.  Obviously these are very, very difficult days for all of Genti's family.  I am writing this letter in response to so many of you who have expressed a desire to help Milena and the children financially.  It is our deep desire, not only to help the family take care of their present needs, but to ensure something for Dea and Aron's future.  We have set up an account for donations for Milena and the children.  Transfer information is down below on the end of this letter.  We are also figuring out how to set up an account in the States for this need.  This account will be overseen by the eldership at the Disciples of Jesus with the primary intent of providing long-term support for this young widow and her children.  It will probably take a few months to make the wisest decisions as to how these funds may be best administered.  We are infused with hope from Ps. 68:5, knowing the Lord is "A father to the fatherless, a defender of widows, is God in his holy dwelling."  Genti has been a faithful husband and father, a church planter, a Bible School graduate, a manager for our church and the Christian Leadership Center, yet most importantly zealous follower of the Jesus.  We can only imagine and rejoice over the kind of worship he is presently experiencing.  Thanking our Father together through tears,  Von Golder
